Parañaque kids appreciate the illustrations in their books

La Belle Queña, a local brand that creates wearable art, had a dream of giving back to their community. They partnered with CANVAS to donate 100 copies of I am the Change in Climate Change and Safe Space: Pambatang Gabay sa Gawaing Online to the learners of Sun Valley Elementary School. The kids also received their own set of school supplies on top of their new books.
Facilitators from the La Belle Queña team prepared drawing sessions for the participants. The kids colored away, creating artworks of their own.
At whatever age or level of reading, art becomes an accessible way for children to engage with a book. Jude*, one of the learners, said, “Hindi po ako marunong magbasa pero ako ay natutuwa sa litrato ng CANVAS. Kailangan ko ng tulong upangn maintidihan ang mga leksyon ibinabahagi dito.” (I don’t know how to read, but I enjoyed the images in the CANVAS [books]. I need help to understand the lessons they share here.)
