Kapampangan kids receive new library books

In 2024, Kapampangan Manlakaran distributed CANVAS hardbound books to 17 community libraries in Pampanga, La Union, Nueva Ecija, Isabela, and Camarines Sur. Within that year, they built libraries-in-a-bottle and libraries-in-a-ref.

The bottle project is both a literacy and environmental effort—it provides books for struggling readers which are placed in libraries made out of recycled plastic. Meanwhile, the ref project repurposes old refrigerators and uses them as shelves for the books. Through the help of their partners, Kapampangan Manlakaran constructed libraries-in-a-bottle in 7 public schools and 6 libraries-in-a-ref in 5 public schools.

Among their other programs are the book pantries. Partner-schools across Luzon received books for their existing libraries. Most of the CANVAS storybooks were placed in these libraries, bringing in new resources for the schools.
