Empowering girls through books
March 25, 2026 — Angeles, Pampanga
The National University Clark Community Extension (NUCCOMEX) celebrated Women’s Month through various initiatives. This included a book donation drive to Alaya Women’s Center in Angeles.
Alaya Women’s Center is a resource center that supports and protects women and members of the LGBTQIA+ community who are survivors of abuse and exploitation. NUCCOMEX and Alaya partnered for a donation drive dedicated to the daughters of survivors of sexual exploitation in their city. A set of CANVAS books was donated to Alaya, and sixteen girls were the very first to read them.
Tina*, one of the girls, said that the book Safe Space: Pambatang Gabay sa Gawaing Online inspired her to create a book about the experience of women in the online world.
