Books Transform Homes in Llanera, Nueva Ecija

April 1, 2022 – Bosque Elementary School, Llanera, Nueva Ecija

We often underestimate the impact that a book can have on a household. A family, a tradition, and a culture can all be made stronger. Through our partners Outreach Philippines and Samahang Manggagawa Lakas ng Bosque (SMLB), we had the privilege to witness the gratitude of not just the kids we donate books to, but of their families as well.

Bosque Elementary School students received 164 copies of our book,  "I Am the Change in Climate Change," an informational and activity book about the environment. We were happy to hear from a grandmother of one of the students:

"We didn't have books like these when I was growing up; instead, we relied on stories told by adults. I am now a grandmother, and I have noticed that telling children stories or anything else is no longer enough; they want to hold or see something. Since receiving this book, my granddaughter has always read it before going to bed, either on her own or with me and her mother."

The gift of reading materials to Bosque Elementary School demonstrates how the power of a book can touch entire communities. The partnership between Outreach Philippines, SMLB, and CANVAS is a shining example of collaboration to empower children through education.
