Jalavera kids go to learning camp and receive books

July 27, 2024 — General Trias, Cavite

The Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Jalavera put together Jalavera Learning Camp 2.0, a program that comprised of academic tutorial services, food distribution, and gift giveaways. The chosen beneficiaries for this learning camp were students from Jalavera Elementary School and Instituto Maria Immacolata.

The learning camp served as an initiative to support struggling readers and provide more resources to communities with limited access to books.

To kids like Chico*, owning a book meant unlocking a skill. He dearly held on to his copy of Ang Pusang Kartero, the book he said he’d practice reading over and over.
