Educators of Banago Elementary School empower readers

December 3, 2024 — Bacolod, Negros Occidental

The Literacy, Empowerment, and Progress (LEAP) Project is a reading program for Banago Elementary School 1’s identified frustrated learners. These kinds of learners are behind on reading skills that are expected at their grade level. To aid the reading program, CANVAS donated 25 books for their Grade 3 pupils with a shared goal—to create a positive reading culture and experience for kids.

The month was kicked off with a culminating event for LEAP. The kids participated in a reading activity and a post-test for the program. They also actively participated in games and enjoyed snacks.

At the end of the event, these learners proudly showed off their certificates of completion for the reading program and their new book—Karapat Dapat! We hope that this activity book will teach them their rights and inspire them to find the fun in reading and writing!
