Teaming up with AJA Law to give books to Salaban Elementary School

September 15, 2023 — San Jose, Batangas

It has been a busy month for CANVAS, but it continues to be fulfilling! Last September 15, we partnered with Alcantara Joaquino Alcantara Law (AJA Law) for a bookgiving event at Salaban Elementary School!

The faculty and staff of Salaban Elementary School prepared a short program to go with the book donations. The students gave an energetic greeting to all the guests. The teachers graciously gave their remarks, represented by Head Teacher I Mrs. Olivia B. Morales and Master Teacher I Mrs. Laura Dimaculangan. The local officials of Salaban were also involved in the program, expressing gratitude for the generosity shown to the school.

After the warm messages, the lawyers, team CANVAS, and artists from Door 305 Artist Collective each picked up a book for the day’s storytelling sessions. Nearly 250 students from kinder to grade six sat in groups and eagerly listened to the stories. They looked at the colorful illustrations from our books with curiosity and wonder.

After listening to a story, the kids got even more excited to hear that they would get to take home our BenCab activity book. Each of them also received a school supplies kit from AJA Law. These were the first sets of coloring materials and books for some of these children, so they happily looked through their new haul.

After the fun morning at Salaban Elementary School, we took the lawyers on a tour around the site of our children’s museum in Ibaan.

It is a humbling experience for us to interact with the children whom we make books for. Thank you to AJA Law and Door 305 for teaming up with us, and to Salaban Elementary School for graciously receiving our books.
