While the COVID-19 pandemic has made many usual things difficult, it has not diluted our commitment to giving away books to children who need them most.

On June 7, 2021, the One Million Books Campaign was able to donate 2,323 copies of Safe Space: A Kid’s Guide to Data Privacy to Fort Bonifacio Elementary School in Makati City. This covers the whole student population, plus the teachers who may find the books useful in their classes. Also, a set of hardbound storybooks were also donated to the school’s library.

The books were included in the learning modules that are distributed weekly to the children who now learn from home. It is their parents and guardians who come to school to get them. A virtual turnover, attended by CANVAS, teachers, and administrators of Fort Bonifacio ES was done via Google Meet on July 2, 2021.

We are also happy to report that Safe Space was awarded this year by the National Privacy Commission as “Privacy Initiative of 2021!”

Our gratitude to AHA Learning Center for linking us with the school, Ms Vilma Valenzuela — teacher and project coordinator, and Mr Jonardo Pablo, their school principal!
