Maldita
by Godfrey T. Dancel

Mother says I am arrogant,
simply because I often belittle
her ideas and impose mine
upon her.

My daughter says I am arrogant,
for I often dictate upon her
and not let her
do things her way.

My friends say I am arrogant,
just because at times, I tell them
I am better
than this or that woman.

People say I am arrogant,
simply because
I say what I think
and do as I please.

What did you say?

Go ahead,
tell me I am arrogant.
What you think or say
doesn’t matter to me anyway.
