Hope
by Becky Bravo

I knew in my heart
that you would come
and here you are at last.
My long-awaited blessing,
My precious little child.

I cannot wait to hold you
and gaze into your face.
I hope you'll have my lips and nose,
your father's eyes,
his half-moon smile.

To me it does not matter
that years have come and gone;
how time has crawled so slowly,
that my youth is almost done.

I never lost hope
that you would come
and here you are at last,
my little one.
