The way that CANVAS publishes its children’s books is as unique and creative as the contest that it chooses its stories from.
The production of CANVAS’ books is funded mainly by artwork sales. We hold other exhibits at the gallery and participate in art fairs to cover publishing costs of current and future titles.
Generous local partners, individual and corporate, have supported the production and distribution of CANVAS books through sponsorships and donations, and support of our merchandise. Some of them include the LandBank of the Philippines, MasterCard, and Medical City Partners. Abroad, the Panta Rhea Foundation in California and the Prince Claus Fund in Amsterdam have also provided (and continue to provide) support through grants.
GlobalGiving, an online platform that allows non-profits from all over the world to raise funds through individual and corporate donors, has also been CANVAS’ partner in strengthening the One Million Books for One Million Filipino Children Campaign.
Aside from books, CANVAS also turns artwork into merchandise. Shirts printed with Manny Garibay and Elmer Borlongan paintings, and bags and journals with designs and postcards by various talented Filipino artists are some of the many items CANVAS produces. Proceeds from these merchandise directly impact on CANVAS’ ability to publish and donate more books to children, at the same time, widen the audience that appreciates Philippine art.
